What helps you "forget" your cancer?

At the beginning of my remission status, I feel like I thought about cancer every other second, and it was extremely disruptive to my daily life. As time progressed, I got to know myself better and found ways to give my brain a little break from the worry, like reading, spending time with friends, and doing makeup. What has worked for you?

I think time is a big component like you mentioned. It’s hard not to completely identify with being a cancer patient when you first enter remission/survivorship because it changed just about every aspect of your identity and reality.

Allowing myself to rest and rediscover myself were important components for me. After cancer there were things that I once loved that weren’t feasible or of that much interest to me anymore so giving myself space for that was key! Post cancer is almost like having to find yourself again.
